Media/device Product Destruction News

As from March 30, 2017, New Brunswick residents can responsibly recycle their old and unused electronic products while helping the environment at the same time, thanks to a new end-of-life electronic product recycling program launched in New Brunswick.

Serge Rousselle, the environment and local government minister said that the government listened and is getting things done by establishing an electronic waste recycling program for New Brunswick residents that will help to protect the environment by removing harmful materials from their landfills and making industry responsible for its waste.

Rousselle further added that the program will play a part in the province’s green economy and Recycle NB has done a lot of work in collaborating with EPRA to ensure that the initiative takes shape in the province.

Although the EPRA program is new in New Brunswick, it is already available in other Canadian jurisdictions. New Brunswick is the tenth province to adopt the method of responsible recycling of end-of-life electronics.

Cliff Hacking, president and CEO of EPRA said that the program works to keep 100,000 metric tons of end-of-life electronics out of Canada’s landfills every year through the regulated and convenient electronic recycling programs. Also, recycled materials are used in manufacturing new products so fewer natural resources are extracted from the environment.
